Forest nurseries are an alternative type of preschool education for children from three to six years of age. The most important feature of these kindergartens is that the lessons take place outside, in any weather.
Emphasis is placed on the development of the child’s own skills and in direct contact with nature. Rest is done in a variety of settings (yurt, cabin or marinette). Of course there are also visits to theaters, museums and similar institutions.
Why the forest?
The forest is taken as a big playground and nature as a teacher (patient, welcoming, but not immortal). The children will find everything they need – skipping obstacles, running and climbing where they dare, learning nature around. If someone is looking for a moment of peace and relaxation, he will find a quiet place from where he can watch the events around him while listening to the sound of trees and the sounds of the forest.
Teachers are trying to prepare programs linked to the seasons and a place that becomes an “open classroom” on that day. As aids, children often use natural materials – sticks like a pencil for drawing in the sand, along with stones as an accompanying musical instrument in singing. Stones as a counter. At the same time, they have a unique opportunity to learn by all senses – the scent of the summer meadows, the sounds of nature. They look and think, for whom the significance of the berries is, who uses and why the meadow flowers. Throughout the year they travel by public transport for various visits and take part in cultural events in their surroundings. The school creates its own festivities and fairs so that parents can see how their children in kindergarten “work”.
Characteristics of nurseries
The basic credo is the year-round stay outdoors, the realization of activities and activities takes place mainly in the forest environment, with the environment being heated in the environment. There is no bad weather, just bad clothes. The class is made up of a maximum of fifteen children and two adults. The basis is mutual trust and good communication with parents, which is essential. The outlook for education is seen by nursery schools in natural situations, spontaneous games and direct experiences of children. Children are developed in accordance with a valid curriculum for pre-school education.
Kids develop more creativity and coarse motors, they are less ill, and stay in the wild has a beneficial effect on ADD and ADHD children – concentrating more, activities and staying in nature to relieve their symptoms
